Wipocalypse Check in for May

What designs do you wish you could find?  Actually there isn’t anything really missing in my stash.  I have a few items on my wish list but I can’t think of anything that is burning in my head screaming “Why can’t you find me?” Okay maybe a beagle picture I can customize but I’m sure I could find one if I actually hit Google.

If I’m 100% honest with myself there haven’t been any designs in several years that I had to run out and buy except Persephone and Cassiopeia from Mirabilia and Christmas Quilt from Emie Bishop.
At this point in my stitching experience if I really wanted a design I couldn’t find, I would create it.

So what did I work on this month?

Well, I went up quite a few levels in Candy Crush Dreamworld, still stuck on Candy Crush level 500,  lots of levels  in Pet Rescue, and 4 scenarios in Gems Journey.  I ran out of black floss for my needlepoint purse.  And I did get work done on my TW Fruit Bellpull although it doesn’t look like much.   As the weather warms up, I may put a quilt up on a frame outside. Then I may have something finished to show off next month.

Stitch from Stash April Report

So I started the month of April by teaching in Logan.  The 2 hour drive to Logan means a visit to Donnett at Embroidery Central.

Through everyone’s Facebook progress pictures, I was falling in love with some of the new Mirabilia’s  and Donnett stocks more Mirabilia’s than any other retail location in Utah.  She also had a copy of My Christmas Quilt by Emie Bishop.  Which gives us a grand total spent of $24.00.  That was going to be my total spend for the month.  But then I started working on Fruit BellPull by Teresa Wentzler and realized that I was missing the 612 and the 3747 but it was okay, I could work around it for awhile.  I did get some progress done on the piece, not much though…

April 034

I did get my Dr. Who quilt pieced and put together except for the outer border.

April 042

I took it to ComicCon FanX with me and Hal the Archer added his signature to it.

April 045

That wasn’t the only signature I got that weekend.  I have a nice start to my Star Trek quilt.

The start of my Star Trek quilt....

The start of my Star Trek quilt….

Seven signatures is a start.  It would be nice if I had been able to get William Shatner and Patrick Stewart for a full 9 blocks.  I’m sure that over time I’ll be able to add 2 more.  The husband would like me to get Dwight Schultz since he loved the character of Reginald Barclay.

So after getting the 7 signatures for my quilt, I wanted some #12 black perle to embroider them in place.  I’ve heard horror stories of people losing the signatures on T-shirts so I’ve pressed these in place and now it’s time to stitch over them, except I was out of #12 black perle cotton.  So I did hit JoAnn’s and I bought the 2 missing floss and a ball of #12 perle – Total $2.60.

That gives me a monthly total of $26.60 for April.  Good thing I didn’t spend all my money in previous months…

The only problem I have now is that I’m thinking the Star Trek signatures should be done in silk.  I think I have some black Subtlety in my stash if not, guess what I’m buying next month…

Late Wednesday WIP

This week’s slot was new starts and re-starts – Here are the starts and finishes for this slot… IMG_1758

Both of these are Lizzie Kate designs and stitch up really fast. Be Naughty is ready for framing and I just have the clock to finish on Too Late and then it will be good to go.

IMG_1759

I have another finish that I can’t show off yet until the recipient receives it as part of an exchange…

Wednesday WIPs – Finished up the screaming slot…

I finished up the slot for my Screaming spot in the rotation and the next up was my restart or new project slot. Here is Autumn Queen as she goes back to wait for her official turn unless she screams some more.

I scheduled the next start be the redo of my Lizzie Kate Be Naughty project and I did get that started.
BeNaughty

But I have been seeing the posts from the Just Nan Junkies and really wanted to work on some of my Just Nan patterns.  As I was going through them I found the Ivy Heart kit from the Filigree Fancies set and started that.

Ivyheart

Along with the stitching this week, I took first place for my Toastmasters speech on you can still use your insurance agent and you don’t have to use Healthcare.gov if you don’t qualify for a subsidy.  And found out that my speech on applying project management to hobbies at home won last week’s contest and I’m supposed to speak at the district level later this month.  All in all a good week.

My Just Nan Inventory…

So I’ve been following the Just Nan Junkies posts and it has me jonesing for a Just Nan start. I found a kit when pulling my JN patterns out and I’ve started it but here’s the rest of the list:

I have some others but they’re all kitted up in my ready to start bin including 1999 Treasure Box, Spring in the Air, Mermaid Heart and one other that I didn’t pull out of the project bag to get the title.

I could take a bunch of the smalls and put them together as a sampler or bell pull on the Antique Lavender linen….but then it wouldn’t be a smalls project.

Wednesday WIP report – end of the month…

And here is a full finish, not only is the stitching is done I’ve framed it too.

Circus Carousel by Threaded Treasures

Circus Carousel by Threaded Treasures

This was a kit someone gave me and I held onto it for quite sometime. Then when I was doing some cleaning, I noticed some bug had left me a present on the fabric. I washed it and started the kit hating every moment of it because the fabric was cut so that I had to work with the weft on the vertical instead of on the horizontal. There is a reason that they tell you to stitch with the selvage on the side.
Anyway I got close to the end and realized that the kit only came with 2 buttons for the carousel animals instead of three and to add insult to injury the two buttons the kit did have faced different directions. Any Carousel fan knows that all the animals face the same direction. If they didn’t people would be riding backward. So I went to the Craft Center to get a replacement for the one that I didn’t have and they had an elephant which was facing the direction I needed. The shop owner was nice enough to trade the button from the kit for the one which was facing the correct direction.
This now means that I have no small projects going at all. Everything is medium or large.

Time to report on the Stitch from Stash

So this month I was really good because I knew that I have a group stash enhancement experience (yea, Group S.E.X) coming up in March with some friends, we’re driving up to Shepherd’s Bush and Needlepoint Joint. I wanted to have more than $25 to spend there so I have been saving up. However, we got the announcement that we had a weekend to spend $100 because of Nashville Market. I decided to put together my list of beads and get some beading thread but I couldn’t find the beads I wanted but I did find the beading thread. So with a weekend to spend $100 – I spent a grand total of $2.12 including tax for a spool of clear thread.
As for the entire month, I couldn’t find the final button for my Circus Carousel which is almost done so I went in to replace it. While I was there I realized that the elephant button was facing the wrong direction (after all, the animals on a carousel should all face the same direction so the shop owner let me trade the Mill Hill Debbie Mumm elephant for a no name (but cuter) elephant button facing the correct direction. So my total for the month is $2.50 for a tiger button. As for the Circus Carousel, I’m hoping to have it finished in time for the Wednesday WIP report but if not, I’m sure I’ll be done by the end of the month.

Wednesday WIP – Not as much as last week…

So I feel I haven’t done as much this week as last week but I did find a frame for my Circus Carousel.  And I seem to be missing one of the buttons for the carousel.  I’ve found the Elephant and the Giraffe but I’m not sure I remember what the 3rd animal was, I think it may have been a tiger.  Anyway here is the progress – I’m hoping to have it done by the time the Olympics are over.

I’m trying to decide if I should do the castle in gray DMC or a steel Krenik. Opinions?

I also did some work on my Autumn Queen by Mirabilia but I don’t feel like I got much done.  Here she is tonight.

Compared side by side with where I was last week, well you can see that I’ve put in more time on the circus carousel. I won’t have much time to stitch this weekend since I’ll be teaching hunters’ education and doing some side contract work.

Mid Olympics Wednesday update…

The stitching time during the Olympics is good to me.  I’m totally upset today about not getting to see any of the women fly for the first time because NBC decided to rebroadcast the luge.  I’m totally upset about after all the fights to get the sport into the Olympic games and NBC doesn’t broadcast the historic event.  I’m going to take it that NBC hates that women are finally allowed in an all male sport.  Yep, NBC hates women ski jumping.

So here is my progress this week.  I got 12 hours in on Fire and Ice…Image
I finished pages 2 and 3 and got quite a bit done on page 6.
Image
And here is my circus carousel. This was my travel piece for forever but I’ve had puppies want to stitch with me and that means working in hand instead of using the frame.
Image
And I got 5 hours done on my Autumn Queen. It doesn’t look like much got done but I put in a solid 2 hours of beads and metallic threads. Next week we should have much more progress.

Wednesday WIP pre-Olympic post

It’s Wednesday and the night before the Olympics which means I should have a ton of progress to report next week.

Kustom Krafts Fire and Ice

Kustom Krafts Fire and Ice

I’m at about halfway through the 10 hour rotation slot on F&I and I’m coming pretty close on my goal to finish pages 2 and 3.
Normally my travel piece, the Circus Carousel has received some love this week since I went to the phlebotomy class of my daughter by another mother and we had the boy scouts over to watch movies which meant I didn’t have access to my stitching stand.

circus20514

I love the Olympics. Before I blew out my knee, I used to love doing moguls and ballet but that sledding accident ended my skiing since I can’t take the side pressure anymore. But I love watching them. I looking forward to seeing the competition and although I know that NBC is going to screw the pooch on the coverage, I’m hoping there is enough posted on the Internet from other country’s media to help me see what I want to see. So, just so you know, I hope you are doing something fun for the next two weeks since I’ll be glued to TIVO.
