Darwin posting again….

Mom and Dad left for Vegas, so I must be in charge of the boys… I wonder if I can get them to obey and give me enough jerky treats so that I can throw up on Mom and Dad’s bed. It would serve them right for leaving me alone again with the stupid birds.

And tonight that special rabbit that poops jelly beans will be visiting our house and trying to avoid the beagle. Beyond the marketing though, Easter is a time to think about the Atonement and the resurrection.

When I was going through my crisis of faith as a teenager, I sat down and listed those things that I believed as truth from all sources. There were a few things that I knew or had such a firm faith in as to believe them true.
1. God Lives
2. Jesus is His Son who came to the earth, took a physical body, died for my sins, and was resurrected on the third day.
3. Resurrection for all is in the Bible and it sounded silly that Christ would take up a physical body just to store it in some corner of the universe if physical bodies were passe` in the afterlife.

Yes, I am a believer in the physical resurrection. When I went searching for a religion to join, I knew it had to teach of Christ and it must teach of a physical resurrection. I only found one and that’s where I am today.

So, those are my beliefs. You’re more than welcome to your own. After all, the plan of salvation is designed that all God’s children have the choice to make their own decisions. Forced belief of any sort belongs in the adversary’s camp.

Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it’s eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today’s society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works.

It’s okay. I understand.

The Bunny Butt story…

Once upon a time, my adult daughter was a very savvy 4 year old. She knew what bunnies look like…

and she knew that they didn’t have hands with which to carry Easter baskets and candy. One day she was watching the rabbits running around the petting zoo. They were doing what rabbits do…

She watched them with a puzzled expression and then a light went on and you could see it in her face…She ran over to me and practically yelled, “I know how he does it! I know how the Easter Bunny delivers the candy. He poops jelly beans!”

Needless to say, all the black jelly beans end up in my basket every year!

In order to gain the level of confidence you want, you have to stop focusing so much on what other people think. Does that sound counterintuitive to you? It shouldn’t. Only insecure people base their status on what other people think. You need to stop trying to impress other people and start trying to impress yourself! Don’t get carried away in other people’s dramas and expectations. Do something that will make you proud of yourself — and your ego will take care of itself.

Funny, I was just reading about how I really needed to get honest feedback from people whom I trusted in order to make the course corrections to make myself a better employee and better worker.

Life update

Just so you know, it’s been a rough couple of months but it’s getting better. So that you have a timeline – – Christmas Day DH had a compound dislocation of 7 ankle bones. Yep, bone came through the skin but nothing was broken. He’s been bed bound for about 6 weeks and it now up to 50% weight bearing for a few hours a day. The new complication is that he has a humungeous blood clot from ankle to mid thigh and has to give himself injections as well as taking pills for blood thinners.

School started back up in January and shortly after that, I came down with a nasty flu bug so I ended up missing a full week of school. Along with that came losing my voice for a good month. That threw me off my stride and I’m just now getting back in a study habit.

We won’t discuss work other than to say I’m the only salaried employee who has to use the time clock, it’s not fair but it’s designed to eliminate the perception that I’m never in the office. Even missing days for DH’s appointments I’m putting in between 38 and 44 hours a week.

Kids are doing well, DS#2 just brought home his best report card ever. He’s passed the test to get into pre-Algebra for next year and qualified to take the Algebra test. This is freaking out his reading teacher who wants us to drop him from the advanced math and music programs since he’s still behind in reading. I’ll pull him from the special ed reading program and go back to paying for private tutoring before I do that.

DS#1 brought home absolutely shameful report cards. Yes, he does the work, he just doesn’t turn it in or the teachers are losing it. One teacher did admit that he probably messed up the entry into the grading system and will correct the grades.

Luckily everything has been going great for DD. Her grades are up and she got her dream job for the summer.

I’m still having medical issues of my own, luckily most of them are being paid for by auto insurance. Although the insomnia is starting to get to me. But then again, we all went off soda when DS#1 got his braces so I’m wondering if no caffeine after using it to regulate my hyperactivity for so many years is part of the issue. But then again, it could be dropping any semblance of an exercise program also. Daylight savings time may help but we’ll see.

Anyway, that’s the run down of my life for the moment and one of the reasons that I haven’t been as active in blogging as I would like. Hope your year is going better.

A song lyric that struck me today…

You’ve been living your life like a girl in a cage
And you whisper when I want you to shout
And I wonder why you wanna go on sleeping
When there’s nothing left to dream about
But you better remember…..

And I know that I’m gonna be like this forever
I’m never gonna be what I should
And you think that I’ll be bad for just a little while
But I know that I’ll be bad for good….

Take a chance on a promise and a roll of the dice
Put your foot on the gas, let it go, let it go, let it go…..

For the good of getting out of control
For the good of the action and a race in the dark
For the good of those chills up your spine
For the good of the rock and the roll in your heart
For the good of what’s yours and what’s mine
For the good of believing in a life after birth
For the good of your body so bright
For the good of the search for some heaven on earth
For the good of one hell of a night

Does it make me a bad person…

To wish that they had kept my husband in hospital for the DVT instead of sending him home with outpatient care instructions?

I’m reaching the end of my stamina and I really don’t feel that I can ask more of my neighbors or church group; they’ve done so much already. My family isn’t in a position to help and I’m about to go around the bend. What makes me feel even worse is that I know people who are in more dire straights and they seem to be functioning fine. Heaven help the next person who snaps at me; I just might pinch their head off.
